How to Join William de Warenne Lodge

If after browsing this site you feel that you might like to join our Lodge there are a few things you may need to know.

Freemasonry teaches moral lessons and self-knowledge through participation in a progression of allegorical two-part plays, which are learnt by heart and performed within each lodge.

Freemasonry offers its members an approach to life which seeks to reinforce thoughtfulness for others, kindness in the community, honesty in business, courtesy in society and fairness in all things. Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount but importantly Freemasonry also teaches and practices concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need.

Membership of our Lodge is open to all men of all faiths who are law-abiding, of good character, who acknowledge a belief in a Supreme being, and who are of the full age of 21 years. Freemasonry is a multi-racial and multi-cultural organisation. It has attracted men of goodwill from all sectors of the community into membership. There are also similar Masonic organisations for women.

Our Lodge is a Non-Dining Lodge which means that we pay for our meals as we take them on Lodge nights. We also have to pay certain fees once a year to both Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge.

As with all organisations, we require you to fill out an application form and then attend an interview with a few Lodge members. This is so we can get to know you and to give you a chance to get to know us. You will also need to know that certain fees are required of you, payable on the evening of your initiation, if you decide to join us after the interview.

You should also be aware that we meet 6 times a year at the Masonic Center in Uckfield on the second Wednesday's of Feb, Mar, April, Oct, Nov and Dec. We hold Lodge of Instruction meetings on the third and fourth Wednesdays of Jan, Feb, Mar, Sept, Oct and Nov in the Wivelsfield Church Hall, Wivelsfield and at the Masonic Temple in Uckfield on the 1st Wednesday in Feb, Mar, April, Oct, Nov and Dec. These are where we get to know each other socially and practice the ceremonies we perform in Lodge.
